The idea of creating a series of works linked by the main theme of made in Italy originated from the discovery, in an abandoned factory, of fragments of tiles stamped with the well-known English expression designating the Italian product. As in all of my works, in which I use both natural elements and synthetic materials, in the origin of the Made in Italy works, there is the encounter with the object and the feelings that gives to me as well. The first pieces of tile that I have found by chance hit immediately my attention, encouraging me to seek others among the manufacturing rejects. Once placed the fragments of tiles on the colored panels’ backgrounds, these attracted objects that belong to the my personal life. Small keepsakes - a little house, a goose, a rooster, a nut, an embroidery, a button - were interweaved with stones and rocks, the oldest depositories of memory, and mixed with leaves and flowers, plastic and resin.
Similarly, the block of Botticino marble (one of the many discarded) extracted in one of the quarries situated in an area between the city of Brescia and the Garda Lake, immediately struck me because of its shape and the beauty due to its irregularities. I've then partly covered it with a net resembling a tail or a train, which incorporates smaller fragments of marble.
